July 16th, 17th and 18th are the days!
Let’s all get together and become involved in a fun show. This is a “user boat show” as well as “museum quality boat show”. Boat entries are open to members of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), as well as non members. For those non-members, we encourage you to join our Thousand Island Chapter so you too, can enjoy and participate in the other activities throughout the summer. So let’s get those oldies but goodies off the docks, out of the boat houses and down, up or across the river, to the Alex Bay Village dock.
Our show now coincides with the Alexandria Bay Arts and Crafts Show held at the Park Pavilion near River Hospital. Hopefully these coinciding events will create an attendance synergy. For the boaters during the event, a pleasant stroll to the park to stretch your legs may result in the purchase of a nice gift for someone, while the visitors to the Craft Show may also enjoy visiting our vendors and then stroll along the village dock to view some beautiful wooden boats.

Rideau Cruise
June 14, returning June 17, 2009

This trip is now history. Everyone had a great time and the weather was in our favor. One morning, for only a few hours, it rained but for the rest of the entire trip, the sky was blue. One boat had starter issues and then transmission problems, which ultimately caused the boat to stay in Canada for repairs, but everyone pressed on aboard other boats to finish the trip in good shape. Look at the "2009 Rideau Trip" tab for some nice pictures taken by Seb Borrello. Thanks Seb for your efforts.

June 28, 2009 Cruise Steak Roast
Cruise as a group or on your own to Canoe Point
Capt's and Mate's: Theibeau and Wurster
We're talking about a GREAT TIME had by all. It all started with beautiful weather and a well paced cruise, led by Bud Ames in Quarters. We departed from the Boat Museum, by Round Island to TI Park, past Murray Island to the Canadian Narrows, back by Lansdown and then Canoe Point for the picnic. The Park employees had been contacted in advance by Paul Thiebeau and Erich Wurster and had set up several picnic tables in a long row, so all that was needed was a good fire and food. As the afternoon event was near a close, the weather was still beautiful but had signs of rain toward Cape Vincent. By the time all departed, the weather in the area was still perfect, but those who needed to return to the Cape were looking forward to the dark areas we viewed earlier.
Scores of thanks to these volunteers who made special trips to coordinate this picnic with the Park employees and then purchase all the supplies and steaks, which were, by the way, supplied by the Chapter at no cost for the Chapter members. A brilliant effort was made by the chef's who did an absolutely wonderful job cooking---Thank you.
An additional thanks also goes to all those who were thoughtful enough and generous enough to bring superb dishes to enjoy, because there were LOTS of Hors d'oeuvers, sides and desserts available for everyone.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The only requirement of the "supply department" for this magnificent picnic was the request that everyone follows the very important directions to: ***RSVP*** No Later Than: (Date), so the purchase of steaks could exactly match the number of mouth's to be fed. This very important guidance should ALWAYS be considered SOP for outings and rendezvous of this type. We don't want any unhappy campers!
Special Request: To insure events like this can be planned again, we really do need new, and additional, volunteers to help with the necessary arrangements associated with these events and rendezvous. Please let the Pres. or Vice Pres know if you're willing to help. Even if it's just a one time volunteer, young or old, we need your help to have fun!
Again, thanks to all for your hard work which resulted in a wonderful time!!

July 30, 2009 Clayton Boat Show Cocktail Party
Thursday Night--As last year, there will be three tables with duplicate dishes on each to help the flow of guests. Bring a dish or if you can contribute a dish if you can't be there, would be much appreciated. Volunteer bartenders are also needed. Sign-up sheets will be availabe at the Canoe Point Steak Roast on June 28 or call Linda Schmitt at 315-654-3659 RSVP
Another wonderful get together, and again, wonderful weather! Many thanks to Rick & Linda Schmitt for organizing the event, but it doesn't stop there. Paul Thiebeau, Bill Siegenthaler, Warren Meztger and Steve Slagsvol manned the bar with lightning speed. "Mike" Thiebeau, Erich & Bonnie Wurster, Linda Schmitt, Jan Joyce, Judie Frolich, Mae Slagsvol, Mary Lloyd, Wink Beadel, Bari Bryant, Clarissa Chester, Micki Koenke, Loy Kranz, Mecky Kreissle, Sue Sears, Helve Clough, Janet Sinn, Melenda Comstock, Mary Lu Dixon, Hank & Ruth Ann Parker, Irene Small, Ella Frank, Rich & Judie Peterson Nicki Pfeiffer, Bruce & Allice Ulrich, Linda Jackson, Anne Potter, Twyla Webb, Carol Richardson and others all contributed and participated in the event in some way by their more than generous volunteer work and contributions. No one should have gone away hungry. Everyone's extremely hard work and overwhelming food contributions, fed not only our chapter members, but the Clayton Boat Show participants, Boat Show Vendors, and other guests too. It was a great turnout and thank you all for your hard work for another wonderful party put on by our 1000 Islands Chapter of the ACBS!!!!

August 23, 2009 Wellesley Island Rendezvous
Theme: Bring a new member or a potential new member
Captain & Mate: Dave and Carol Richardson
Loads of thanks to Dave and Carol for opening their home to a crowd ready to party! It looked like the morning rain was going to last all day, but shortly after arriving, (and cleaning our feet on the numerous towels on the floor for that purpose) the sun came out! Everything turned out exactly as planned: Good Weather; Good Food; Good Friends; and a Good Time! In addition to the party, Pres. Paul Thiebeau presented a nice appreciation gift to Ann Potter for her continued support of the 1000 Islands Chapter. Her gift was a Silver Picture Frame (same as the frames given as awards) with a picture of Ann piloting her boat "The Judge" while returning to Round Island. Thanks Ann and thanks Dave and Carol for supporting the club.

Sept. 13, 2009 Annual Meeting
Another fine day at the Antique Boat Museum for our Annual Meeting. I can't help being redundant about the good weather and nice time had by all. Pres. Paul Thiebeau provided us with the annual financial statement which indicated the Kick-Off party and the Boat Show did a fine job which resulted in an "All Was Well" at the bottom line. We said our good-bys for the season, wishing everyone a safe trip home and a good winter.
